Paul identified the sons of God as those who are led by the Spirit. Throughout this volume we are going to meet some of these sons of God as we finish our journey through the Old Testament and begin our journey into the New. We'll finish the prophetic journey with Ezekiel that we began in the last volume, as he prophesies to the people of God from the place of exile. Then we'll connect with Daniel as he is led by the Spirit to be a light in the counsel of Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon. Then we'll meet up with Joel and Micah as they mingle God's pronouncement of divine wrath with his promise of the coming of the Spirit. Then we'll hook up with Haggai and Zechariah as they bring the power of the Spirit to bear upon the task of rebuilding the Temple of the Lord. And finally, we will bear witness to the work of the Spirit in the womb of Mary, the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, the empowerment of the Spirit that enables him to stand in the wilderness, and the sheer power of the Spirit that rests upon him as he emerges from the wilderness.
