Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Specific Heat and Heat of Fusion of Ice
The present investigation is one of a series undertaken, at the request of the refrigeration industries; for the determination of constants which are of fundamental importance in the design and operation of refrigeration machinery.
A determination made at the Bureau 1 of the heat of fusion of ice was published in 1913. In this publication is given a review of previous work on this subject. As stated there the' results presented are subject to a slight uncertainty on account of the lack of adequate knowledge of the specific heat of ice near the melting point. For this reason and also on account of the direct technical significance of the specific heat of ice, it has been made the subject of the work here presented.
