Publisher's Synopsis
The aim of this book is to discuss assumptions of relativisitic cosmology, especially the assumptions which underlie much of the mathematical materials used by cosmologists. Starting with a discussion of the main elements and principles of contemporary space time geometry, the author goes on to look at elements of a particular theory of relativity, the method of fibre bundles and how general relativity theory can be explained by this method. This leads on to the main theme of the book - the cosmological problem. The book finishes with a detailed supplement showing the development of space-time theories from Aristotle to the present day.
