Public Library of Interest to Catholic Readers, was approved by the Board of Trustees to promote a wider circulation of books in the library. Printed catalogs of books by Catholic authors issued by other libraries were used as a basis in compiling this list. The catalogs used had been approved by church authorities and published under the auspices of Catholic societies of their respective cities. These lists were issued through the libraries of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, St. Louis and Milwaukee.
