Publisher's Synopsis
The second in a two-volume series dealing with the use of concurrent processors in science and engineering, this book focuses on software which explicitly implements the algorithms presented in Volume I.;The concurrent implementation of algorithms on real machines is emphasized. Then, with a strong bias toward practicality, the authors review the parallel hardware currently available, present a survey of applications on several parallel machines, introduce the implementation of the CrOS III communication system on a number of concurrent machines, describe a hypercube simulator which may be used to run the software presented in the volume, and discuss 17 application codes in detail. There is also a tutorial for parallel systems, using the CrOSIII communication system, to help new users become familiar with the concurrent implementation of simple regular problems on such systems.
