Designed to supplement any production and operations management text, this software allows students to explore many of the techniques in operations management more productively through the use of personal computers. It requires only 360K on IBM or compatibles, but the user is not required to own or install Lotus or any other spreadsheet software. Problem material is included for each chapter/quantitative tool, and extensive checks for input errors are incorporated throughout the package to minimize input problems.;The programs are compiled using the Microsoft QuickBASIC Compiler so problems can be solved rapidly, minimizing the time students must spend at the computer. Operation of the programmes is illustrated with examples from the Dilworth "Operations Management" (1992) text (problems in this text that can be solved using the programs are listed), but the techniques used are standard and can be used with any P/OM text.;In addition the programs solve traditional problems and also larger, more complex case problems than are usually found in most textbooks. The instructor has the choice of having the student perform all data entry, or of creating and saving a file using the programs to distribute to students - this is especially appropriate for larger probelms and modules, such as MRP, that require extensive data entry.;Also available is a separate instructor's manual (0-07-832580-3).
