Publisher's Synopsis

This unaccompanied piece for solo flute is inspired by a poem called Mythistorema by George Seferis. Causton creates a dark, unsettling image of sleep. He does not allow the music to settle into a steady time signature, instead he frequently changes time signature and tempo. The flute's range and timbre is explored with very specific instructions regarding tone and expression.
