It would appear that this latter was his fate, as I have found no other notice or record of him, and I should not have done more than merely give the volume its place among our local publica tions, had I not been struck by the mournfulness of the language of the young and unknown poet.
We are now come down to the present century, which affords far more materials for the Literary History of Barnstaple; but before continuing the roll of literary men and literary works, I must turn aside to bring up another phase in our literary history to the same period.
