Excerpt from Sketch of the Early History of Bosque County
Judge N. W. Battle, now liv ing at Seattle, Washington, was then a candidate for District Attorney of the District and the orator of the occasion. Judge Battle then resided at Waco, and rode from that place, 50 miles, horseback to make the speech. He was the District Attorney at the organization of the District Court of Bosque County, and afterwards served as District Judge over the same court.
