I am much obliged to you for the pamphlet which you have addressed to me, and, at Mr. Hankey's suggestion, I will make such remarks on it as occur to me.
I think it is the best reasoned and the most persuasive of all the treatises on Bimetallism which have yet appeared, and if, While accepting its arguments in favour of the principles of Currency signified by that rather barbarous word, I propose to add anything to them in the follow ing pages, it is only With the object of touching upon the objections that have been and Will be made to the adoption of the double standard, and of showing how far they are or are not capable of being sustained.
