The often-voiced call for more gender equality and more visibility of women in public space turns out to be a paradoxical recipe against politically questionable honors of personalities close to National Socialism in the course of the current street renaming practices: Quite a few women scientists who are academic pioneers in their field today are honored with street names, were also politically active National Socialists. This issue begins with this seemingly anachronistic practice of public memory politics.
