Darwin Henderson, a Montana hunting guide born in Oak Level, Virginia, is on his way home for the spring and summer months when he receives a disturbing phone call. Virginia State Trooper Lawrence Henderson, Darwin's father, has been killed in the line of duty.Darwin returns home to find that all is not as it seems. Darwin finds clues left behind by his father which lead him to question all and trust no one. With an undercover agent from the FBI, a protected drug kingpin, and the local drug task force in the mix, Darwin's presence brings events to a head quickly. Five days of investigations and cover-ups come to a climatic finish at Shepherds Gate, the property owned by Darwin and his father.
