Publisher's Synopsis
We have come to a wretched reality in this country where teachers have been placed in conundrums whether to follow the letter of the law during testing administration or to cheat. In Atlanta, several teachers were indicted for giving students answers on the exam, coaxing, and changing answers on State exams. I was utterly offended and appalled by the actions of those teachers, for in any environment, integrity and honesty should prevail.Conversely, should we not consider the environment that has been created by lawmakers and districts that have educators bursting at the seams with fear and pressure to produce better test scores? Shouldn't we evaluate why teachers would dastardly jeopardize their integrity, honesty, profession, and careers? Might we examine the cause, then the symptoms; maybe eliminate the cause altogether?Gerald Scott
