Publisher's Synopsis
When a home invasion goes wrong in Perth, Australia, Catherine Teresa Drake discovers that the incursion is not a robbery but a ploy to determine her true identity. She is somewhat surprised when the intruder (after finding the evidence he sought) declares her to be the sole heir to the estate of Sir Francis Drake. While it may be true that she grew up in England as a Drake, the family name is not her birthright. She was born in Warsaw, the origins and details of which were unknown to her. Ravages of war brought her to London at the age of three, at which point she was adopted. She finds that revealing this anomaly to the intruder does not make one iota of difference, and she is still offered the Drake inheritance. She resolves that neither bewilderment nor disbelief are reasons enough to turn down a fortune and seizes the chance to start a new life. This decision soon takes her down a pathway to her past and the lives of the people surrounding her birth. More so, it leads to several skeletons in the cupboard they've kept from her and, more importantly, secrets they have kept from each other.
