Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Sermons by Richard Price and Joseph Priestley
These words exprefs one of the moft important of all maxims. They tell us, that in the practice of virtue there is safety. Much higher praife may be bellowed upon it. Vie may fay that with it are conneled peace, honour, dignity, the favour of God, happinefs now, and eternal happinefs bere after: And we have reafon enough to think this true. But whether true or not, it is at ieaft true, that there is fafety in it. Chrif'cianity informs us, that good men will be railed from death to enjoy a glorious immortality, through that Saviour of the world who tai'ced death for every man. But let the evidence for this be fuppofed precarious and unfatisfa'tory.-let it be reckoned uncertain whether a virtuous couri'e will terminate in fuch infinite blefiings under the divine government as chriftians are taught to expe&. Still there will remain fufficient evidence to prove. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
