Publisher's Synopsis
This work illustrates new trends in the field of SQP-methods in nonlinear programming. It contains the theoretical background, remarks to implementations and examples of using SQP-methods for solving practical problems. Particular applications of SQP-methods for the numerical treatment of data-fitting problems, semi-infinite optimization problems and structural optimization problems are considered.;The information on the derivatives of the objective and the constraints are reached by automatic differentiation. In addition, the implementation of the SQP-method by Schittkowski (NLPQLD) appears as a supplement of the book.;The book should be useful for undergraduates since the fundamental theory is included. It should also be of interest to mathematiccians, engineers and economists who are interested to apply efficient methods of nonlinear programming.
