The latter establishes a sentencing regime into Northern Ireland that largely replicates the procedures and principles introduced into England and Wales by the Criminal Justice Acts of 1991 and 1993.;All major decisions in the courts of Northern Ireland and England and Wales since 1990 are included, as well as other major statutory developments such as the Criminal Justice (NI) Order 1994, the Road Traffic (NI) Order 1995, the Road Traffic Offenders (NI) Order 1996, which introduced penalty points for driving offences for the first time and the Proceeds of Crime (NI) Order 1996 which gave the courts powers to confiscate property. Issues such as the release of prisoners on licence are also covered.
