Self-discipline refers to the code of conduct that one prescribes for oneself in the microcosm to complete a given task or in the macrocosm under any circumstances to establish and enforce a certain standard of conduct. For example, it will be task-oriented self-discipline if I want to lose 10 pounds and decide on a three-month routine to follow a certain regime of discipline. On the other hand, when I choose to follow the "Do to others as you would have them do to you" Golden Rule, then I will become self-disciplined and follow a common pattern of behavior in my relationships.
The time for resolutions is a New Year. Some resolutions will be forgotten by the end of January. If this occurs many times, we are used to a pattern of resolution-a pessimistic way of looking at any compromise that prevents us from forgiving ourselves. We stand in the deterministic philosophy of "we are what we are because we are what we are." So, most of us live in self-denial as we get disconnected from our origin and the resulting drain on our resources. The other side of the coin is that we can be self-disciplined and take our goals in life in order to stay linked to our roots.
Creating an intention is described as an intense passion for a strong purpose with determined action to achieve the desired result. It is an expression of intention to create an affirmation. In our example, in three months, the objective is to lose ten pounds of weight. I have to become enthusiastic about this desire to make this desire a goal. The enthusiasm is created by visualizing myself that my goal has already been accomplished, followed by all the good and positive emotions that will flow from the performance. Once this is built in the consciousness, the affirmation will look like this, "I, Sanjay Behuria will weigh 130 pounds out of my current 140 pounds on April 12, 2009, to help me to lead a rich and safe life and look slim and sexy."
