M. N. Roy was perhaps one of the most outstanding intellectual activists of the first half of this century. He took an active and leading part in revolutionary movements in India, Mexico, the Soviet Union, and China. At the same time, he was a penetrating and prolific writer whose published books and pamplets run to over 100 titles. The Selected Works, planned in six volumes, are to be representative of M. N. Roy's writings spread over a period of thirty-seven years. Volume 1 (1917-22) includes the translation from Spanish of his writings of the Mexican period, the works of the early communist period, including the classic India in Transition.
