Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Selected Letters
Often, of course, he was writing in his letters about the same general topics or experience or attitudes. I have tried to eliminate such repetition by omitting passages essentially duplicated in other letters. These omissions indicated by the conventional ellipsis dots - are the only ones. The misspellings - Benet was a rapid and careless typist - have been silently corrected. Idiosyncrasies of punctuation have been retained (except when they create an ambiguous phrase or sentence), but Benet's usage in regard to italics, capitalization, quotation marks, and hyphens has been normalized.
