Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Select Popular Orations of Demosthenes: With Notes and a Chronological Table
Of the seventeen popular orations which stand accredited to Demosthenes, a few of them under some suspicion as to their genuineness, I have se looted such as seemed to present a fair specimen of his manner in such addresses, and, at the same time, are upon subjects of as much general interest as any. That so many of them relate to Philip is only because nearly all of the popular orations have to do with him, since he was the great enemy of Athens during the larger part of the public life of Demosthenes.
