Multiplication is taking any one number called the multiphcand as often as is exprelfed by any other number called the multiplicator, and the number produced by this operation Is called the product whence it follows, that the produc't contains the mul tiplicand as often as there are units in the multiplica tor, and that if a number of a greater denomination is to be reduced to an equivalent number of a leis, it mull be done by multiplication. As for example In a pound fierling there are 20 lhillings therefore.
