Das Buch Jezirah, ein spatantiker hebraischer Traktat, hat den genauen Ablauf der gottlichen Weltschopfung zum Thema. Er ist eine der bedeutendsten Quellen der judischen Mystik und Philosophie. Im Jahre 1552 erschien er erstmals in der Ubersetzung und mit dem Kommentar des grossen Philologen Guillaume Postel. Dass er hier in christlich-lateinischem Kontext herausgegeben wurde, bezeugt, sein Echo uber judische Kreise weit hinausging. Das Werk ist einer der Grundtexte fruhneuzeitlicher Schopfungs- und Wissenschaftskonzeption. Die Einleitung des Herausgebers bringt u.a. fortlaufende Erlauterungen des Postel'schen Kommentars als Lesehilfe. The book of Jezirah, a Hebrew treatise from late antiquity, gives an account of the divine creation of the world and of the ensuing course of events. It is one of the most important works of Jewish mysticism and philosophy. The treatise was first published in 1552 in a commentated translation by the great philosopher Guillaume Postel. Its publication in a Latin Christian context shows that its reverberations exceeded Jewish circles. The work is one of the basic texts of early modern concepts of creation and science. The editor's introduction includes annotations to Postel's comments throughout.
