Publisher's Synopsis
Dear Brother, in this brief message, I have addressed the issue of seeking means of nearness (better known as tawassul), which has caused concern and provoked debates among some circles. If only our brothers would turn to the Book of Allah and the traditions of His Prophet (s) with a scrutinizing, unbiased view, they would find in them clear and explicit evidence, leaving no room for doubt or ambiguity. However, some among them, may Allah forgive them, might accuse those who seek means of nearness to Allah of worshipping the very means or label their act as an innovation.
We present before you a concise discussion on these two principles: 1- The Oneness of Worship (al-Tawḥid fi al-?Ibada), 2- The Prohibition of Innovation. This is to make the reader understand that one who seeks means-whether material or spiritual-believes in these two fundamental principles with the utmost faith. With this faith and adherence, they seek means that are sanctioned in divine Islamic law. We implore Allah to unite our speech, as He has bestowed upon us the unity found in the concept of monotheism. Indeed, He is Capable of all things and Worthy of answering prayers.
