The Armagh Observatory was founded and endowed in 1791 by Richard Robinson, Lord Rokeby, Archbishop of Armagh, and established under an Act of the Irish Parliament (3lst George III. Cap. A pamphlet entitled An Historical Account of the Armagh Observatory, printed in 1883, gives full information of the endowments of the institution, and of the work done to the end of the year 1882.
