Excerpt from Second Annual Report of the State Board of Health of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: Transmitted to the Governor, December 1, 1886
Resolved, That the Committee on Medical Legisla tion be and is hereby instructed to prepare a supple ment to the act establishing a State Board of Health and Vital Statistics, which shall give operative force to the clause which declares it to be the duty of the Board to insure the faithful registration of births, marriages and deaths, of prevalent diseases and Of practitioners of medicine and surgery in this Common wealth, in the several counties and in the Central Eu reau of Vital Statistics, and to report the same to the Board at its next meeting in November, in order that the bill may be introduced before the next Legislature.
The report was accepted and referred for publication and the resolution adopted.
The other standing committees reported progress. Dr. Edwards, chairman Of the Committee of Arrange ments for the State Sanitary Convention, then presented his report, which was accepted, and the thanks of the Board tendered to the chairman for his indefatigable and successful labors.
On motion of Dr. Engelman. The Annals of Hygiene, edited by Dr. Joseph F. Edwards, was adopted as the Official organ of the Board, in accordance with the ar rangement proposed by the Executive Committee.
