Publisher's Synopsis

The Cambridge Assignments in Music series features a variety of books, audio cassettes and CDs including History of Music, Popular Music, Performing and Responding and Popular Music. This practical introduction is based on the author's own methods of presenting score reading. The emphasis is on 'keeping up' with the music, following the rise and fall in pitch, and interpreting details of the score. The book is accompanied by a cassette (prepared by Decca) of orchestral pieces and extracts which provide complete musical references, and a set of overhead projector transparencies. For groups which do not have easy access to an overhead projector, the book works perfectly well on its own as an expert guide to following and understanding a score.
