Publisher's Synopsis
These 72 activity cards provide 144 differentiated activities. Differentiation is incorporated through the use of "a" and "b" cards which cater for mixed abilities. Both types of cards have the same learning objective within each activity, but "a" cards are less demanding. In some cases, children using the "a" cards provide information for those using the "b" card; this provides opportunities for co-operative learning.;The activity cards for Year One are mainly pictorial and are designed for the teacher to use with a small group. They provide a focus for discussion which helps to build chldren's confidence in science. All other activity cards have been designed to encourage and support a growing ability to work independently.;The same structure is used throughout and each card follows the same format. A list of resources needed to complete the activity is provided in each pack of cards and the illustrations in packs A and B are designed to help children to identify the resources they need. Easy-to-follow instructions guide children through each stage of the activity. A wide variety of recording strategies are suggested throughout each unit, helping children to develop chart and graph production skills. At the end of some cards there are general feedback sessions which help to consolidate learning and assist teachers in undertaking assessment.
