Publisher's Synopsis
This volume contains the papers delivered at an international symposium on Sangspruchdichtungwhich took place at the close of the Repertory of Sangspruch and Mastersong from the 12 to 18th centuries held in Würzburg in February 2006. The central theme of the event was the constitution of the genre, on the one hand in the context of neighbouring genres and the interplay with them, and on the other in the interplaywith moral and didactic poetry in Medieval Latin, Middle Dutch and the Romance languages. The papers in the volume contribute to a more sophisticated description of the sangspruch as part of an (inter)national literary network and the result of multiple interference phenomena.
