A gig in Baltimore finally comes through for Aretha Wilcox, inciting the family's new beginning. Once on scene, Titus learns just how far behind the curve he really is when he crosses the path of CArJAk, a foolhardy Merliner whose life is plummeting toward an inevitably bad conclusion. Owed to some imperceptible force, out of some indiscernible need, the two are unified into a friendship bond that requires costly sacrifices. As the bare essence of CArJAk's hard luck existence unravels, Titus, who is still licking fresh and painful wounds of his own, is duty-bound to set his homie on a straight and narrow path. Amassing all efforts to stave off the inevitable devastation that follows CArJAk like death's dark shadow, Titus finds himself dangerously caught up into his friends vacuum of despair.
