Publisher's Synopsis
In 8 years from a landlubber to a long-distance sailor. That is, within 8 years to learn to sail, buy a boat and make it suitable for long-distance sailing, as well as dissolve the previous life.
Not everything always goes according to plan, but the goal is reached. After 8 years, it is actually "Cast off" for a so far 4-year adventure, which leads Luna Mare and her crew Marion and Paul from the Baltic Sea over the west coast of Europe first to Lanzarote. From there they will sail via Cape Verde, Senegal and Gambia to the Caribbean. Numerous islands lie on the way from Antigua via Florida and Cuba to Panama. The Pacific calls and it goes nearly 5,000 nm to Hawai'i, from there to Alaska and Canada. Even recurring problems on board the Luna Mare can't stop them from visiting many beautiful places. Until Corona messes up their travel plans. But changes of plans are part of the repertoire of long-distance sailors. These then lead Luna Mare by means of a truck transport to the US East Coast, from where it goes back to Europe. This voyage report impressively reflects the changing mood of the situation and shows that in the end optimism and a good portion of humor are essential for the success of such a voyage.
