Publisher's Synopsis
Part of the WP.29 "How it works-How to join it" series, this publication introduces current challenges and situation on the transfer of used vehicles to Africa with huge impact on the road safety and environmental situation in this region. It further provides an overview of the global flow of used vehicles between regions and continents and regulatory framework on the transfer of used vehicles in other parts of the world. The international regulatory framework based on the three United Nations vehicle Agreements provides a sound basis for enhancing vehicle safety and reducing their emissions. Technical description of the recommended UN Regulations/UN GTRs is provided to assist countries in Africa for setting up their national requirements for import of used vehicles.
