The presentation sticks as close to ANSI-SQL as possible. This is done because ANSI-SQL is the most portable. When necessary the database specific code is used to accomplish common tasks.;This book can be used as a supplemental book in a database theory course where more coverage of SQL topics is needed. It is well suited for a course covering just SQL with a few design concepts during a typical 15-week semester. To support this use a small appendix covering the principles of database design is included. No prior knowledge of SQL is assumed.
