West - Rufus King was placed at thirteen years of age at Kenyon College, but was transferred from the junior class of that insti tution to Harvard University, where he gradu ated with honor, and, after passing through the Law School, then under the teaching of Judge Story and Professor Greenleaf, he came to Cincinnati in March, 1841, fully prepared to begin the battle of life. He had been brought up by a mother equal to the great re sponsibility of training and educating boys, and the principles instilled by this good woman guided his life. Soon after coming to Cincin nati, Mr. King married, and in this step he se cured a wife whose loving heart was ready to yield every power of her nature to the ad vancement of her husband, whom she, with prophetic eye, saw was to be a power among men. Through a long life, it was this wife's privilege to stand at his side and to rejoice in the results of his unceasing work for the good of all around him.
