H� contents of Volume II of the Rolls of Hugh de Welles are the work of several hands. The institutions of the Oxford Archdeaconry were transcribed and prepared for the press by the Rev. H. E. Salter, m.a., Vicar of Shirburn, whose acquaint ance with Oxfordshire is evidenced by his articles in the Couhty History, and by his edition of the Eynsham Cartulary. Mr. Salter also transcribed and edited the unique Roll of Charters of the a-rchdeaconry of N orthampton printed on pages 183-272.
