Colonel joseph W. Vance. Age 47; date of commission August 12, 1862. Battles: Chickasaw Bayou, Arkansas Post Vicksburg, Jackson July 30, 1863, home on furlough returned to Regiment November 6, 1863, at New Iberia, Louisiana; Sabine Cross Roads, where killed April 8, 1864; buried at Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He commanded a brigade during the greater portion of his service. His children are at Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
