I have put into these two volumes what ever seemed true, and therefore worthiest, after an acquaintance with Switzerland of many years, extending from my childhood to the present time, having but recently finished the special studies undertaken in connection with my history, The Rise of the Swiss Republic.
As it is intended to keep these chapters at all times up to date, I beg those who read them to forward me any suggestions, or corrections, they may deem expedient; and to do this, whether in the character of sojourners in the land, or leisurely saunter ars, or merely hurrying tourists.
