Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Riches and Poverty
His book makes no pretence to be a complete examina tion of the important subject of the distribution of wealth. Indeed, as its contents will show, the material does not exist to enable a writer, however industrious, to present a picture of Riches and Poverty in the United Kingdom in more than broad outlines. Nevertheless, within the limits of a margin of error not large enough seriously to affect the truth of its conclusions, the following examination of the contents of our collective purse gives a general survey of the subject which, it is hoped, will be found of some value to sociologists and not less interesting to the reader than it has proved to the author.
