The chronicle which we eare here beginning to print is con rained In the Royal Irish Academy ms. Stowe C III 1. It has been commonly knonn, at least since 1818, as The Annals of Connacht. The1e 15 no title or incipit in the nis, and this name suits the work atleast as well as any, other that might be invent cd for it. About 100 years out of the 321 covered by this record were printed, from transcripts, in 1871 to supply the long hiatus in The Annals of Loch Ca'; but the text has never before been edited completely or from the original.
