Publisher's Synopsis
This topic book was originally produced in Welsh, as part of the Welsh Office Materials and Resources Project: History. Using primary evidence, both documentary and illustrative, along with activities and exercises, the book encourages pupils to evaluate the evidence for themselves, and to draw their own conclusions.;A particular feature of the approach used is that the evience is presented in the context of a developing story. As the story unfolds, the pupils are introduced to the necessary background information, enabling them to then make an informed interpretation of the available evidence.;This book outlines the history of Lenin's early life, putting this into the context of the ideas of Karl Marx and the political, economic and social conditions in Russia before the Revolution.;After describing the way in which the old order was turned upside down by the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the author finishes with an account of the history of the young republic until 1924, the year of Lenin's death.
