During the years 1876, 1877, and 1878, to December 1, the principal air temperature thermometers were placed on a frame, about 47} feet above the ground, within a penthouse situated on the north side of the Observatory, opposite to the Transit-circle room, and at a distance of about 14 feet from the wall.
