Publisher's Synopsis
The Fourth International Symposium on Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy and its Applications was held at the National Bureau of Standards, Gaithersburg, Maryland from 10-15 April 1988. The Symposium was a truly international affair with participants from 15 countries. The development of the field since the 1986 Symposium is shown by the number of new applications, greater sensitivities, and the enlarged capabilities of molecular RIS. This volume contains both the invited and the contributed papers. The main sessions of the Symposium were devoted to: photophysics and spectroscopy, molecular resonance ionization spectroscopy, atom reservoirs and sampling, materials and surface analysis, noble gases, new optical sources, RIMS, isotope selectivity, medical and environmental applications, physics applications, and technical and experimental aspects. The proceedings will be of interest to libraries and researchers in government, academic and industrial research laboratories in physics, chemistry, materials science, and earth and environmental sciences.
