LE travail que nous publions aujourd'hui se limite � letude des Dro miac�s et des Oxystomes normaux recueillis par le Bibb, le Hassler et le Blake, dans la mer des Antilles et dans le Golfe du Mexique. Les diverses familles qu'il embrasse sont loin d'�tre �galement repr�sent�es dans les profondeurs des r�gions explor�es par ces exp�ditions am�ricaines, aussi ne les avons - nous pas �tudi�es toutes avec le m�me d�veloppement. Il y avait lieu d'insister, croyons-nous, sur les groupes o� ont �t� r�alis�es des d�couvertes pouvant int�resser l'histoire g�n�rale des Brachyures, tandis qu'il suffisait, pour les autres, de se borner � une description suffisante des esp�ces nouvelles. C'est pourquoi nous avons �tudi�, avec tous les d�tails convenables, les Dromiac�s primitifs et les Dorippid�s, tandis que nous nous sommes born�s � une �tude succincte des Leucosnd�s et des Calappid�s.
