The foregoing statistics will exhibit the number and manner of casual ties for the year to its close. Very many, if not all, of these families were in indigent circumstances. 'greater yet must be their distress at the losses sustained by the death of a father, son or brother, on whose earnings their whole support depended, but to consider the keenness of their distress thereafter it must be lamentable indeed.
