In June 1876, he was united in marriage with Miss Virginia Smith, a daughter of the Hon. G. B. Smith, of Newcomerstown. She had been his play mate in childhood. Their early and loyal affection was merely confirmed at the altar. Six boys and two girls were born to them, all of whom survive. Three of the sons are now following their father's footsteps in the profession of law and their success was his joy and pride.
