Excerpt from Report on the Negociation Between the Honorable East-India Company and the Public: Respecting the Renewal of the Company's Exclusive Privileges of Trade for Twenty Years From March, 1794
Though I could not have expected to have again been able to contribute my assistance to the Honor able east-india Company, on a similar occasion, it necessarily occurred, that an authenticated statement of the diversified objections to the Government and Trade of the east-india Company; first while opi nions were fluctuating on these subjects, and next when they came'nnder the deliberations of the Courts of Directors and Proprietors, and, from them, for the decision of Parliament, would prevent the recurrence of similar speculations, and might afford precedents to which both the east-india Company, and the Legis lature might refer. With these views the following Report is submitted to the Public.
