The ores mined are galena or mineral (sulphide of lead), smithsonite or dry-bone (carbonate of zinc), and sphalerite or black-jack (sulphide of zinc). In relative amount of pro duction sphalerite is the most important, galena of less import ance, and smithsonite less still. The future will undoubtedly witness a continued increase in the importance of sphalerite.
