Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report on the Effect of the Chicago Drainage Canal on the Levels of the Great Lakes

I examined all the annual reports Of the Chief of Engineers of the United States Army contained in that institution, numbering over one hundred large volumes, and taking copious notes, as well as many congressional and other public documents of the United States Government, with elaborate memoranda.
