Publisher's Synopsis
Covering the whole of the UK, this third Report presents figures that show that there is no room for complacency in the management of pregnant women. The overall maternal mortality rate shows a modest fall whilst the mortality rate from conditions directly due to pregnancy and delivery has fallen more sharply. Through its assessment, this report aims to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates still further. It makes recommendations concerning the improvement of clinical care and service provision, and suggests directions for future areas of research.
