Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Report on Christian Education in China: Its Present Status and Problems
On the other hand, perhaps the larger number of students in Christian secondary schools have acquired very little, if any, use of English and would have to take two years additional preparation to enable them to enter a Christian college where the instruction is given in English. Probably all of the Chris tian colleges now teach English as a subject whether they use it as the medium of instruction or not. It is not the purpose of this report to argue for or against the use of English in edu cating Chinese in China, save as it affects a still larger ques tion of the preparation of a few for vital contact with Western thought and peoples.
